Welcome to the Foodie Report

Dear foodie,

Recently, a group of us here at The Enquirer decided to create a blog where foodies could convene to talk about that thing we all know and love: Food.

So we bring you... The Foodie Report.

Here’s a bit about the blog authors and a little of what’s on our plates and our minds:

Nicci King – “What’s for dinner?” It’s the question everyone starts to ask around 4:30 p.m. I offer you my ideas for easy and delicious dinners and I certainly hope you'll send me yours.

Polly Campbell – The resident food expert, she gets tons of food-related stuff in the mail each day. Between that and the sheer volume of food she's paid to eat, she will have plenty to write about.

Amy Goldberg – She's doing her best to cut back on carbs while refusing to give up her obsession with baking. Sound difficult? Check back in to see how she does it and to offer your ideas for scrapping the sugar.

Julie Gaw – She'll write about some of the many happenings in food. From new products to new hot spots, she'll write about what's going on in our little corner of the culinary world and beyond.

Lauren Bishop – Living in Porkopolis can’t be easy for a vegetarian. Lauren will share recipes, tips and experiences with restaurants new meat-free products. Meat-phobes unite!

Chuck Martin – In his own words, Chuck Martin is a “culinary school drop-out” who loves to cook, food shop and eat out every now and again.

Stephanie Pross – Trying new recipes is her thing. Whether it was a hit or a miss, she'll share the stories and the recipes behind the culinary trial and error to which she subjects her family.

Bill Cieslewicz – He’s letting his inner caveman come out long enough to tell his fellow carnivores how to get the flavor in and the chewiness out. Tips, tricks and recipes from the master of marinades.

Welcome! And we hope you’ll stop in to break bread with us often!

Best dishes,

Nicci

If you can tell a meat-and-potato-only lover married to a fruit-and-vegetable lover how to occassionally cook a meal together, we'd be ever so thrilled.

Well, my hubby, Adrien, tells me he eat salads at work, but I can't tell you the last time I saw him eat one at home. Enough about us...

I find that a lot of people who don't like veggies feel that way because they've only eaten overcooked, underseasoned and all-around gross veggies. I can get Adrien to go back for extra helpings of broccoli now because I drizzle it with a good olive oil (EVOO to you Ray-ers), red pepper flakes, fresh garlic and lemon juice.

My point? Food is like marriage: It's always going to be the same goods. Try to cook the old stuff in new ways to keep things interesting (wink). And if all else fails, compromise. Tater tots and chopped steak Friday, roasted root vegetables Saturday. Bon appetit! (Yes, it's midnight and I'm posting... I had some circus peanuts and the sugar rush is keeping me up. G'night!)
