Indy dining
I'm planning a fun weekend in Indianapolis soon - some shopping, some dining...but wondering what the must-hit restaurants are. I definitely want to check out Traders Point Creamery in Zionsville, which has an awesome brunch menu for Saturday mornings. Local, organic, seasonal food - what's not to love? And you can watch the cows being milked!
Beyond St. Elmo Steak House, which I tried during Restaurant Week last year, I don't know what Indy's other hot spots are. Sought out a few Chinese restaurants last year too, but was not so impressed that I had to go back.
Any suggestions for great Indy eats?

Restaurant Week?
I wrote about this back on Jan. 2. Indy, DC, SF, NY all have them. It's a week of reduced prices - usually set 2 to 3-course meals - at area restaurants. A great way to try new spots that might otherwise be out of your price range. Indy's next one runs July 9-22. indyrestaurantweek.com

Earl - Just found this link too for Louisville, which did have a Restaurant Week last fall. I'm trying to see if there's another one coming up.

Well, there are better choices for steak aside from St. Elmo--I'd recommend Peterson's on the northside--I-69 at 96th Street. Locally owned and delicious.
If you like sushi--Try either Sakura at 71st and Keystone Ave, Ocean World at 86th and Ditch Road (same ownership), or H2O sushi in Broad Ripple.
If you're looking for upscale chinese and are willing to pay a premium, try Shanghai Lil across the street from the Fashion Mall at 86th/Keystone.
I've heard good things about this restaurant near Indianapolis. May be worth the drive.

Bonges - quite a menu for a "tavern." Elk with shitake!?
I'm guessing my fiance has been to Shapiro's. He's out there for work a lot and is a big fan of delis.
I did try Shanghai Lil last year and found it overpriced and not that outstanding, unfortunately.
Great choice on visiting Trader's Point Creamery! I don't know if you've had their yogurt before, but it's absolutely wonderful. (I've even seen it sold in some high-end food shops in Chicago.) They also have a fun "creamery cafe" there, where you can sample some of their ice creams and products. You'll have to report back!
R Bistro. I can't recommend it enough.
http://www.bongestavern.com/ is an AWSOME choice! Think about it. People drive from Indy to Perkinsville to get the food. How many people do this? You're going to be tailgating on a Friday or Saturday night for a few hours before dinner. Oh yes, you tailgate before a fine dinning experience in Perkinsville Indiana.
Also, I'm fond of Trader's Point Creamery. Dinner is on Friday nights outside on the deck after May. You just have to experience to get the feel of the people and the place. It simply feels good.
