El Pollon closed
One of my freelancers just e-mailed to say that a restaurant she was supposed to check out for a Weekend story, El Pollon in Fairfield, had closed. Not sure when it happened, but the phone's been disconnected. Pity - it was a Peruvian chicken spot on Dixie Highway that just opened in July 2006. Polly had written about it providing food at the Cincy Cinco festival last May.

I went there once with others from a Spanish class I was taking. I remember thinking that they didn't have a prime spot along the strip there. We had to drive up and down several times to find it.
As for the food, there wasn't much for vegetarians, but I remember trying fried plantains there for the first time. And it was also nice to order our meals and speak to the wait staff in Spanish.
