Barbecue confusion

I am a barbecue snob. Having grown up eating mustardy pork in Carolina and beef brisket later in Texas, it's probably the only thing I can be a snob about. Don't get me started on how bad Cincinnati barbecue is, just hear me when I say the best barbecue I've eaten this far north is at City Barbecue in Centerville.
So I was excited when I had the chance to check out the chain's West Chester location in Voice of America Centre. Then I was disappointed. The smoked chicken was so dry I nearly choked on the sandwich. The buns disentegrate as you eat the pulled pork. And instead of shreds of smoky brisket in the too-sweet baked beans, the beef is cut into neat little cubes. What's that about?
Having said that, the pulled pork did have an authentic flavor. But still, this location doesn't match up to its sister restaurant in Centerville. (Yes, I've heard there were problems with franchisees in the past here.)
The atmosphere is just too mallish for me. And by the way, I think laptops should be banned from all barbecue joints worth their sauce.
But then I'm a real snob about these things.

city barbecue in hyde park is great. getting a pound to go before the bengals game on a sunday morning is becoming a tradition.

Have you tried Big Art's? I've been told by a number of folks that it's easily the best in town.

I frequent Walt's in Mt. Airy because I live close by. (I know you've been there Chuck) While I don't claim they're excellent, they fill the bill for me when I get a hankering, especially their brisket.

i've lived in south carolina, georgia, alabama and texas. i love me some q. and i've been happy with the city bbq in hyde park. best brisket i've had since leaving texas. not as dry as most every other place i've had it. haven't had the ribs yet, i lived in tuscaloosa, so it's tough to compete with dreamland (the original, not one of those franchises)
